What is Left For Us Here?

The impact of the pandemic and Covid-19 lockdown restrictions unexpectedly evoked memories and feelings of nostalgia for my childhood: feelings of familiarity, of safety and wonder. Growing up in Dublin 12, our neighbourhood seemed vast and unknown. But naturally, as time went on, leaving and exploring the world became the goal. With my movements restricted, and a limit of 5 kilometres, I was forced to stay within my own postcode and suddenly it felt bigger again. The roads I had walked in order to get to somewhere else became my subject to explore and I found new beauty in the mundane details I had overlooked.

This series was made in collaboration with other young women from D12, allowing them to reflect on how this place has shaped them and consider what is left for them here.
